Sesame Ladoo / Tilgud Ladoo

Ladoo is an Indian dessert which is shaped like a sphere. It can made with any kind of nuts or dry fruits or flour. So many variations and it all tastes yummy.

Tilgud laddo is a very common and super popular ladoo made with sesame seeds and jaggery. “Til” means sesame seeds and “Gud” means jaggery which is unrefined sugar. Sesame seeds are well roasted and ground together with jaggery and coconut. It’s one easy and tasty vegan dessert.

Sesame Ladoo / Tilgud Ladoo is a very popular Makar Sankranti (festival in India) recipe made with sesame seeds, jaggery and coconut flakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sesame seed.

  • 3/4 cup of jaggery, crushed.

  • 1/2 tsp of ghee.

  • 1/4 cup of dry coconut.

Directions

  • Roast sesame seeds over low-medium heat until the color changes to light brown around (5-8 minutes)
  • Coarsely grind sesame seeds in a food processor, then add crushed jaggery pieces, ghee, coconut then grind it again until the mixture release oil.
  • Take out the mixture in a big bowl and take a around 2 Tbsp of mixture in your palm and start rolling it into balls and repeat same with remaining mixture.

Notes

  • Add crushed peanut for extra crunch in laddo.
