Asian Baked Salmon

Asian Baked Salmon

Asian baked Salmon is a flavorful salmon recipe in which salmon is marinated in a special sauce which combines soy sauce, vinegar, lemon grass, lime leaves, ginger and garlic, then roasted in an oven to flaky perfection. The salmon is first roasted in a pan just until it gets a nice brown color on both sides( about 1 min per side) and then placed in an oven to complete the cooking. The remaining marinade is cooked with some wine to make a nice and thick sauce.

This Asian baked salmon is so flavourful and  fragrant because of all the aromatic Thai herbs used in the marinade. It’s juicy, tangy, spicy and salty. If you don’t like salmon, then I think you should definitely try this one as it can convert you into salmon lover ;). And I have a story to back what I just said. My husband didn’t like salmon at all and once I bought salmon and cooked it in this style for me and I told him to taste and he finished the whole salmon steak by himself and from that fine day he was converted into a Salmon lover.

This salmon goes really well with mix green salad or coconut rice or fried rice.

Salmon steaks marinated in super flavorful Asian sauce, then baked into juicy perfection.

Ingredients

  • For Marination :-
  • 2 Salmon steaks

  • 2 Tbsp of low sodium Soy sauce

  • 2 tsp of Black vinegar or Balsamic vinegar

  • 4 garlic cloves, grated

  • 1 tsp of ginger grated

  • 1 stalk of lemon grass, chopped

  • 2 Kaffir lime leaves, chopped fine

  • 1/2 tsp of red chili pepper flakes or to taste

  • Other Ingredients :-
  • 1 Tbsp of coconut oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/4 cup of wine ( I used Marsala) or use chicken stock

Directions

  • Mix all the ingredients listed under marination in a bowl and rub the salmon carefully with the marinade and let it rest for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat oven to 350F. Take a oven proof saute pan for cooking salmon.
  • Now add oil in hot pan and add salmon and let it brown on one side (about 1-2 min), then flip and cook again for another 1 minute.
  • Put the pan in the oven and let it cook for 10-12 minutes until the salmon is flaky.
  • After that, take the pan out from the oven and let the salmon sit on the pan for another 5 minutes.
  • Then transfer the salmon over to a plate and put the pan back on heat.
  • Pour the remaining marinade in the pan along with a 1/4 of wine and let it come to a boil.
  • When the sauce is boiling, pour the sauce over the salmon.
  • Salmon is ready to serve. Serve the warm salmon with mix green salad or over a fried rice.
