This is basic chicken curry recipe frequently prepared in pretty much every non vegetarian house in India. Chicken cooked with onion-garlic-ginger-tomato gravy and spiced up with garam masala.

hour or overnightA very common chicken curry recipe in which chicken is cooked in onion tomato gravy fully loaded with special blend of Indian spices.
Ingredients
- Marination :-
1.5 kg / 3 lb of skinless, bone-in chicken, cut into pieces
1/2 cup of yogurt
1/2 of lemon
1 tsp of chili powder
3/4 tsp of turmeric powder
Little salt
- For Gravy :-
1 tsp of mustard seeds
2 big onions, finely chopped
8-10 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 inch of ginger, finely chopped
3 green chilies , chopped
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 Tbsp of coriander powder
1 Tbsp of chicken masala powder
Red chili powder to taste
Few cilantro leaves chopped
1-2 Tbsp of oil
Salt to taste
Directions
- Marinate chicken with lemon juice, yogurt, chili powder, turmeric and salt for at least an hour or overnight.
- Now in a hot pan add oil, splutter mustard seeds, then add onions, chilies and salt.
- When the onions are translucent, add ginger and garlic and stir for 5-6 min. Now add dry spices and stir for few minutes.
- Then add tomatoes and let it cook until it releases oil. Now add chicken with its marination and put on the lid and let it cook for 40 minutes.
- When chicken is done and simmer it for 5 min. Add cilantro leaves and chicken curry is done.
