  • 2 medium onions,  sliced

  • 3 green chilies or to taste

  • 1 whole garlic cloves, peeled

  • 2 inch of ginger, peeled

  • 1 Tbsp of Kashmiri red chilly powder

  • 2 tsp of malwani masala or any garam masala

  • 1 tsp of caraway seeds/black jeera

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 Tbsp of oil

Directions

  • Make a paste of cilantro, green chilies, half of garlic and ginger. Marinate chicken with this paste, turmeric and salt for about an hour.
  • In a wide pan dry roast coconut over low-medium heat. After 5 minutes add sliced onions and continue to roast until the coconut is brown and toasty.
  • Grind coconut and onion mixture into a smooth paste with the help of 1/4 cup of water.
  • Now in a wok, heat oil and crackle caraway seeds and add chopped onions and stir well.
  • After 5 minutes, add the remaining finely chopped ginger and garlic and let it cook for another 5 minutes. Add turmeric, red chilly powder, coriander and Malwani masala. Stir for a minute.
  • Then add chicken with its marination and mix well. Let it cook for 10 minutes.
  • Now pour the coconut mixture and mix well. Put on the lid and let it cook over low heat until the chicken is almost done(it took me 30 minute).
