Curd rice

Again a very popular south Indian dish. Rice mixed up with yoghurt and cilantro and seasoned with mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and peanuts. This dish is very light on stomach.

"Curd

Yield :- 2 servings

Ingredients :-

  • 1-1/2 cup of cooked rice
  • 1 cup of beaten yoghurt
  • 1 tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp of urad dal
  • 2 tsp of chana dal
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 2-3 sprigs of chopped cilantro leaves
  • 1 tsp of chopped ginger
  • 2 green chillies, slit length wise
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp of oil

Method :-

1. In a hot oil, pop mustard seeds, then add urad dal and chana dal and stir, allow the dal to turn light brown. Now add curry leaves, ginger and green chillies and stir fry for about 1 minute.

2. Add cooked rice, salt and saute for about 1 minute, then take the pan off the flame and add yoghurt and stir continuously.

3. Take the pan again on the flame and let it get warm through.

4. Toss in the cilantro and serve.

  • Serve warm or cold with any curry or pan fried fish/meat.
