Nuts paratha recipe / Meetha paratha recipe

Nuts paratha or meetha paratha is a sweet flatbread (paratha) stuffed with ground walnuts, almonds and jaggery. Nuts paratha is a perfect breakfast recipe, as it fill you up for a longer time.

Ingredients for nuts paratha/meetha paratha :-

  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for dough(about 1/4-1/3 cup)
  • 1/4 cup of walnuts
  • 1/4 cup of almonds or peanuts
  • 1/2 tsp of fennel seeds
  • 2 heaped Tbsp of jaggery powder or sugar
  • 2 pinch of nutmeg powder
  • 2 cardamom, powdered
  • oil/ghee for brushing

Method for nuts paratha/meetha paratha :-

  1. Mix flour with salt and slowly add water to make soft dough. Cover it with damped kitchen towel and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Grind walnuts, almonds/peanuts into a coarse powder and mix it well with jaggery, fennel, nutmeg and cardamom.
  3. Now divide dough into four balls and nuts mixture into 4 parts.
  4. Roll out the dough into a small circle and stuff with a part of nuts mixture. Bring the edges of the rolled out dough together to cover the stuffing.
  5. Pat the stuffed dough with little flour and roll out it in floured surface to make disc of desired thickness(about 5-6 inch diameter). Repeat same with rest of the dough and stuffing.
  6. Heat a tawa or skillet in medium-high heat and place the paratha and let it cook for few seconds until it gets slightly puffed. Flip the paratha and when the brown spots appear, brush little oil with the back of the spoon and again flip and spread oil and press the puffed area with spatula untill the paratha is golden brown.

Nuts/meetha paratha is ready to serve.

You can serve nuts/meetha paratha as it is or with pickle.
Serve nuts paratha warm as it tends to get hard when it is cold.
Substitute almonds with peanuts to make nuts/meetha paratha rich in protein.
