Pasta with chicken in creamy tomato wine sauce is a heavenly, creamy and super flavorful dish in which spaghetti and sauteed chicken is tossed into a tomato wine cream sauce prepared with tomatoes, garlic, basil, wine and cream.

This pasta dish is perfect for special weekend lunch or dinner. The tomato wine cream sauce with basil is to die for and perfect for any kind of pasta you like. 
Addition of wine and lots of basil does wonders to this dish by making it super tasty and delish! I made this delicious 
pasta with tomato cream sauce for my hubby for a special weekend lunch and he just loved the dish. It was really a pleasure to see his happy face when he first tasted the dish . So this recipe of pasta with chicken in creamy tomato wine sauce is very special to me.

Ingredients for pasta with chicken in creamy tomato wine sauce :-

  • 1/2 pound of spaghetti
  • Handful of basil leaves for garnishing

For tomato wine cream sauce :-

  • 5 medium red tomtotoes, finely chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup of good non sweet red wine
  • 1/2 cup of basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 tsp of red pepper flakes or to taste
  • 1 cup of chicken or vegetable stock or pasta water
  • 1 Tbsp of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For chicken :-

  • 2 chicken breast about 350 gms, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp of paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 Tbsp of oil

Method for pasta with chicken in creamy tomato wine sauce :-

  1. Toss chicken with black pepper, salt and paprika. Heat a non stick wide pan and sear the chicken pieces until cooked and brown on both sides.
  2. Take out the chicken pieces and keep aside. Then for tomato cream sauce, heat rest of the oil and add onion and garlic.
  3. Let the onion sweat, then add tomatoes, basil, red pepper flakes and let it cook for 5 minutes .
  4. Now add wine and stock and cook over medium heat until the tomatoes are soft and the mixture is thick (for about 6-8 minutes)
  5. Now turn down the heat to simmer and add heavy cream, salt and pepper to the tomato mixture and simmer for another 5 minutes. Tomato cream sauce is done.
  6. Cook spaghetti according to the package directions. Strain the spaghetti and save a cup of pasta water for later, if needed.
  7. Add the chicken and pasta to the tomato cream sauce and simmer further for another minute. Add little pasta water, if it is dry.
  8. Mix in the fresh basil and pasta with chicken in creamy tomato wine sauce is ready to serve.

Add shrimp instead of chicken if you want.  This pasta in creamy tomato wine sauce is equally good with either chicken or shrimp.
Serve pasta with tomato cream sauce with
Broccoli and white beans salad or Spinach and strawberry salad  .
I have added wine for extra depth of flavor. Wine is not necessary for tomato cream sauce. So do not add if you don't want.
