Broccoli Thoran Recipe

minutesThoran is very popular side dish of Kerala. Broccoli thoran combines grated broccoli with coconut and onion, steamed together. It is very easy to make and very healthy too.
Ingredients
1 lb of broccoli
Half of medium red onion,finely chopped
Red chilly powder to taste
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of mustard seeds
2 Tbsp of shredded unsweetened coconut
1 tsp of oil
Directions
- Wash the broccoli and drain it in the colander but don’t pat dry it because we need little bit of water for steaming.
- Grate broccoli florets very fine. You can do this in a food processor.
- Splutter mustard seeds in hot oil ,then add broccoli , turmeric, chilly powder, coconut, onion, salt and mix. Put on the lid and let it steam for few minutes (approximately 5-6 min) .
- Broccoli thoran is done. Serve warm with rice and sambhar or dal.
