Green Beans Thoran combines finely chopped green beans and onions with crushed coconut and garlic cooked together to crunchy perfection .

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of green beans

  • Half of medium red onion, finely chopped

  • Few dry red chilies

  • Red chilly powder to taste

  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp of mustard seeds

  • 2 Tbsp of shredded or grated unsweetened coconut

  • 1 tsp of oil

Directions

  • Wash the beans and drain it in the colander. Trim off its ends. Bunch few beans together and slice it really fine.
  • Splutter mustard seeds in hot oil, then add onion,beans,turmeric,chilly powder,coconut, salt and mix.
  • Put on the lid and let it steam for few minutes (appr. 5-6 min). Add little water, if needed for steaming.
  • Green beans thoran is done. Serve warm with rice and dal.
